Rio do Vento

Project

About the project:

The Rio do Vento project, developed on the Rio do Vento Wind Complex, is a set of wind farms built and operated by Casa dos Ventos, in the towns of Caiçara do Rio do Vento, Riachuelo, Ruy Barbosa, Bento Fernandes e Ceará-Mirim, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. Casa dos Ventos is one of the pioneering companies in the generation of clean energy in Brazil and is among the main investors in the renewable energy market in Brazil, identifying the main resources available for electricity generation since 2007.

The expectation is that, in all, Rio do Vento will have 1,038 MW of installed capacity, of which 504 MW are already in operation. The complex contributes directly to the energy transition of companies from different sectors that have chosen renewable sources as a way of guaranteeing sustainability in their operations.

This wind energy further expands Brazil’s renewable electrical matrix and is already transforming the local reality. Clean, renewable and competitive energy is essential for partners who wish to invest in sustainability and the future.

Validação Final

Duração

10 anos

The estimated reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (tCO2e) is audited by independent certifiers that provide independent validation based on strict criteria that consider factors such as energy efficiency, replacement of fossil fuels by renewable energy sources, and changes in practices, among others. These certifiers demonstrate that the carbon credits generated by these projects are of high integrity thanks to their great positive environmental and social impact.

Methodology

Wind energy is a clean and renewable source of energy generated from the wind, which contributes to the diversification of the energy matrix and plays a key role in mitigating climate change by generating high-integrity carbon credits.

Key benefits of the project

As one of the largest wind complexes in the world, the Rio dos Ventos project is already transforming the local reality by generating thousands of direct and indirect jobs, in both the construction and installation of the complex, always prioritizing the local population. Additionally, part of the project’s income is reverted to the development of social projects in the areas of infrastructure, education, and health.
